The Out of the Box μPAD Controls Platform is a base accessory board to the μPAD designed for controls curriculums. The Controls Platform additionally includes a dc motor, laser cut structural components, an IMU, an encoder, and an infrared break beam sensor for absolute encoding. Out of the Box provides a student software playground for creating controllers and performing motor modeling tests.

This platform also has a relay to switch between digital control and analog control of the motor. A screw terminal provides all power and analog feedback required for creating an external analog control system.

The Out of the Box μPAD Controls Platform is used to teach the Linear Controls Laboratory EEL 4657L at the University of Florida.
